Why Sugaring is the Best Hair Removal Method

Why Sugaring is the Best Hair Removal Method

Hair removal is a constant pain for many people, and methods like shaving and waxing only make it worse! Dealing with ingrown hairs, skin irritation, and constant stubble can make you want to quit all together. However, what if there was a method that didn’t involve all this frustration? Enter: Sugaring! Sugar-based hair removal has grown extremely popular in the last few years because it is safe, natural, and effective.

What is Sugaring?

Sugaring is a hair removal method that, similarly to waxing, removes hair fast and from the root. Unlike waxing, Sugar wax does not contain harmful chemicals. The paste is typically made of sugar, lemon, and water.

This sugar paste is heated until it reaches a soft, pliable consistency. Once it cools it is applied directly to the skin, then removed quickly to pull the hair off.

The Benefits of Sugaring

Environmentally Friendly

As previously mentioned, sugar wax is comprised of natural, biodegradable materials. Regular wax is often made of harmful materials and does not decompose quickly. Sugaring is also more environmentally friendly than shaving since most razors are made completely, or at least partly, of plastic.

Less Irritation and Breakage

Since the paste used for sugaring is water-soluble it is easier to remove and does not stick to your skin. This leads to less irritation and ingrown hairs. Additionally, sugaring is completed by applying the paste against direction of hair growth, then removing it with hair growth. Waxing is performed in the opposite way which makes it very easy for the hairs to break in half, leaving you with a stubbly, rough finish and more irritation.

Lightens Dark Spots

If shaving is your main method of hair removal, you most likely suffer from dark spots under the arm pits and in other areas. For many people, these spots are aggravating and unpleasing to the eye. Sugaring can actually lighten these dark spots, and eventually remove them all together. Sugaring exfoliates the skin, removing that dark build up, and removes the hair from the root which gets rid of any dark stubble you might have.

Safer for the Body

With sugaring there is much less risk of injury. It is very easy to cut yourself while shaving or burn yourself while waxing. Sugar wax is not applied when it is too warm, removing this risk.

Reduces Hair Growth

Because sugaring removes the hair from the root, the follicle collapses and must rebuild itself before it can grow new hair. Over time, sugaring will weaken the hair making it impossible for it to push through the skin, and the follicle will stop producing hair all together. For this reason, people who consistently sugar as their main form of hair removal will see a great reduction in hair growth over time.
